TCIE brings home a 4th place finish in
WGI Finals:
The
2008 season has come to it's dramatic conlusion with TCIE taking 4th
place (90.40) in Percussion Independent Open finals!
All staff and members would like to thank our family, friends, and
local music community for their continued support!
A very special thanks to the Tates Creek HS band directors and band
program for their support and enthusiasm!
Also, a very large thank you to Innovative Percussion, Remo, and Yamaha.
From a wgi.org PIO Finals
review:
“The
Speed of Life” of Tates
Creek Indoor Ensemble
(4th-90.4) explored the hectic nature of contemporary life and how we
can get caught up in the daily grind of existence to the exclusion of
enjoying all life has to offer. When offered “one more
chance” to get
it right, will we grab the opportunity and run with it? The line
emphatically declared that there is so much to do…right now.

About
the show:
From
the very beginning, TCIE's 2008 production "The Speed of Life"
examines the insight behind the famous Ferris Bueller quote, "Life
moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once and a while,
you could miss it." From there, the ensemble takes you on a fast paced
whirlwind of intense drumming and movement. We then stop to contemplate
the idea of the present. We discover that while our natural instincts
tell us to move with haste, just as much gratification can be realized
when we stop and appreciate the value of "now." The ending production
marries the two ideas together, combining lightning quick motion and a
blur of notes with isolated solos that allow the audience to appreciate
the excellence being created right before their very eyes.
